During each Summer Art Camp week, students will create 5 - 7 different and unique art projects under the instruction of Prettyboy Elementary's Art Teacher, Mr. Jim Briggs. This camp is offered to all students entering 1st-6th grade.

Art projects will vary for both young (1st and 2nd graders) and old (3rd, 4th, and 5th graders) ages, and all students will work in the following art forms: drawing, painting, clay, collage, and mixed-media.

Master Artists will be observed throughout the week. Students will create a plan for most of their artworks in a supplied sketchbook. In addition to a sketchbook, all other art materials will be supplied; however, students may bring their own if they'd like. We do take a couple of breaks in between art projects, and students will need to bring one or two light snacks & drinks each day of the week.

A note from Mr. Briggs:
I have absulutely loved doing Clay Club for the last 8 years, and want to expand on it so other amazing art forms are included! So we have changed the name to ART CLUB!

Art Club will be an alteration or an extension of Clay Club. Students will now have the option to work with clay, and/or many other art materials, such as: pencil, colored pencils, charcoal,
oil and chalk pastels, watercolor and tempera paints, yarn, fabric, glue, mosaics, rulers, yardsticks, compasses, etc. Art Club will be a place where students can create in either a 2-D or a 3-D style,
and in either observational or imaginative style. Art Club gives all students a chance to make artwork in any type of medium I can provide for them. We aren’t limited to using just clay
anymore, however, for some students, clay may still be the main material they use. The choice is theirs! 😊

  • Art Club sessions will run in March and again in April. Registration forthese sessions will begin January 4.
  • Keep an eye on the StoneAlley website for more information.
  • Each Art Club session will have a variety of unique themes for studentsto choose from, and from these selected themes, studentswill then pick the art material they wish to work in to create/build their special artwork(s) for that specific session.
  • Students can use one art medium to work in for the entire session, or select multiple art materials to work with throughout the Art Club session.
